The Bob Whitlow Professional Development and School Culture Fund was established in 2012 by an anonymous alumni parent in order to continue the significant legacy of our beloved former Head of Aurora School, Bob Whitlow. This fund in his memory will help to support the ongoing professional development of Aurora’s faculty and staff – an effort that Bob inspired and loved so much. It will also ensure that the special school culture Bob helped create will endure.
Bob Whitlow came to Aurora in 1992 as a consultant and sex ed teacher, eventually replacing founder, Carol Smith, as the second Head of School. His leadership and love of learning and teaching was instrumental in building Aurora into the school it is today. When he left his position in 2006 to return to the classroom, he left a legacy that continues to influence us. Bob passed away in 2011. The Bob Whitlow Professional Development and School Culture Fund will honor his memory and allow generations of future students to benefit from the excellent teachers Bob loved to nurture.
