In the time our family has been part of the Aurora community I’ve had the opportunity to wear many different hats as a parent volunteer. I love any excuse to spend time at Aurora—it is always fulfilling to be able to contribute to such a loving and inclusive community of people.

I’ve enjoyed each volunteer opportunity I’ve had at Aurora because each one has shown me a new facet of Aurora’s special nature. Helping with work parties at the beginning of the year gave me insight into how much work and thoughtfulness go into the school’s facilities. Helping out in the classrooms and on field trips let me witness firsthand the loving care and all-around wonderfulness of the Aurora teaching staff. It taught me about Aurora’s teaching philosophy: its inclusivity, its holistic approach to teaching and learning, and its overall kindness towards everyone in our community. Helping with the book fair has given me a glimpse into the magic of our unparalleled library program. Volunteering as a parent ambassador and tour docent has let me see inside all of the classrooms and learn even more about how every part of the school works. Speaking to prospective parents has been one of my favorite volunteer roles—as long as someone’s willing to listen, I love to talk about how awesome Aurora is!

We never expected a school community to bring so much to our family, but Aurora has turned out to be a magical place full of kind, thoughtful, and intentional people. I feel fortunate to have been able to contribute and participate in so many different ways while supporting this wonderful community.
