Volunteer Opportunities
Research shows a correlation between a student’s academic and social success at school and their parents’/guardians’ school involvement, and we know from years of experience that a strong community improves the school experience for everyone.
Because of this, Aurora families are eager to participate in our volunteer program. Aurora families volunteer a total of twenty school hours each year (or ten for single parents). There is the option to buy out of volunteer hours, but most of our families choose to volunteer. Â
Volunteer opportunities range from year-long commitments like being morning greeters or room parents, to many one-off opportunities like driving/chaperoning field trips and helping with school events. We realize most parents work full-time jobs, so we provide easy ways to fulfill your volunteer hours which include opportunities from the comfort of your home. Specific opportunities and links are listed in the Tuesday Tell All and class newsletters, and you can register and track your volunteer hours using ivolunteer. More volunteer information is in the Aurora Family Handbook.
